A Nigerian family in Canada has taken to social media to plead with the government not to deport them over claims that they are lives are in danger.

The family who are seeking asylum in the North American country shared the horrifying ordeal they had to go through in their home country in a video.

In a video clip posted on TikTok by @glowwriyah, the mother, who converted from Islam to Christianity, described in heartbreaking detail how her family abandoned her as a result of her conversion to Christianity.

They begged the Canadian government to reconsider their deportation out of fear for their lives because going back to Nigeria would undoubtedly cause them great harm or even death. Hence seeking asylum from the Canadian government.

Speaking about their ordeal, one of the family members said;

“l am an infidel as far as my family is concerned, I converted from Islam to Christianity. My family disowned me and in 1999 I went to my dad. I wanted to get married. When I walked into the room he was ironing his shirt or whatever.

“He had actually thought I had changed my mind and I had come to apologize for changing to Christianity. But when he realized that, that wasn’t the case he was angry. He hit me.

“My kids started telling me stories about some people and strangers walking. up to them and telling them, “Tell your parents that if you want to be alive, tell your parents to convert back to Islam.”
