There was a protest on Tuesday, January 16, by residents of Tunburku village in Kidandan ward of Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State to lament the worsening banditry and security challenges in the area.

Leader of the protesters, Malam Yusuf Jibrin noted that they are worried over the activities of bandits and other criminal elements which have grounded agriculture and other economic activities in the area.

The protesters also stated that bandits kill and abduct people at will and only allow farming after a huge ransom has been paid.

Daily Trust reported that Amiru Abubakar, a resident of Tunburku also disclosed many in the village don’t have food to eat, hence the appeal to the royal attention for quick intervention.

Responding to this, Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamali said the village head of Kidandan village has been reporting the unfortunate situation to the council.

Bamali added;

“In fact, the situation in Giwa local government area always gives us sleepless nights.”
