Mathias Adidi, the president of the Nigerian community in Seychelles, has explained why Nigerians were banned from visiting the country for holiday purposes.

The country’s border security on Sunday confirmed to journalists that Nigerians without work visas were no longer allowed into the country.

This is after a Twitter user and travel content creator, @munafromtravelletters, on Saturday shared a screenshot of what appeared to be a Seychelles’ visa application rejection email.

“We regret to inform you that your application has been denied, as per immigration regulation, for now we are not accepting any NIGERIAN passport holder for holiday purposes,” the screenshot reads.

Speaking about the ban, the president of the Nigerian community, Mathias said that someone in Nigeria is nudging Nigerians to bring drugs to Seychelles.

He wrote: “@OseniRufia, I am Mathias Adidi, the president of the Nigerian community in Seychelles. Please help us inform Nigerians. Some one in Nigeria is sending Nigerians to bring drugs to Seychelles. And is not safe they are been arrested every day.

Last Friday 7 Nigerians where arrested. Many Nigerians who are to visit Seychelles for holidays after booking for hotels and other holidays activites. Could not get approval to visit Seychelles. That is the reality now.”
