The arrested suspects were reported to have set up a roadblock along the Okpokwu/Ogbadibo highway and robbed some road users.

An eyewitness stated that personnel of the Community Volunteer Guards, who were on patrol along Odoba Hill, received information and swiftly swung into action, resulting in the arrest of three of the suspected robbers on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

“On the 29/11/2023, at about 08:45 hours, a team of the state Community Volunteer Guards was on patrol along Odoba hill and received information that armed robbers were operating along the boundary between Okpokwu and Ogbadibo,” the witness narrated.

“They (the suspects) had completed their operation, but the team pursued them and successfully arrested three of them, handing them over to the Police.”

The Special Adviser to the governor on Security and Internal Affairs, Joseph Har, who confirmed the arrest on Thursday, applauded the gallantry of the personnel.

“I can confirm the commendable work the members of the BCVG are doing since the transfer and replacement of the former Zonal Commander. God will always expose them. I encourage them to keep up the momentum, especially during the Yuletide.
