Usman Baba Pategi, the veteran Kannywood actor, known by his stage name Samanja, has died.

The popular Kaduna based Hausa actor died on Sunday morning after a prolonged illness.

He was a former staff of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Kaduna national station and a retired soldier.

Samanja was survived by two wives and 14 children.

He was buried in Kaduna on Sunday according to Islamic rites.
