Three Nigerian nationals, Paul Ogor Ndudiokwe(46), Obinna Igbokwe (39), and Kenneth Ozor Onurarah(53),  have been arraigned before Upington District Court, Northern Cape, South Africa, on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and r*pe.
 
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Regional Spokesperson, Mojalefa Senokoatsane, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, said the three accused were part of a group of seven suspects who were arrested in Upington on 15 October 2023.
 
“The accused Paul Ogor Ndudiokwe(46), Obinna Igbokwe (39), and Kenneth Ozor Onurarah(53), are alleged together with other suspects, to have conspired in a meeting that was held at the house of one of them situated near the town in Upington, to murder certain police officers,” the statement read.
 
“These arrests which are regularly for possession or dealing of drugs, were hurting their business, and causing them to lose money.
 
“The accused were arrested by the Police after receiving an intelligence report from a witness, who heard the discussions between the suspects, who are alleged drug dealers in Upington,”
 
During that meeting where the accused were allegedly planning to murder the policemen and it is alleged one suspect also said that he wanted to r*pe the wife of one of the officers in front of him.
 
During their first appearance in court, the prosecution requested that the matter be remanded for a formal bail application.
 
The case was postponed until Friday, 20 October 2023, for a formal bail hearing.
 
The accused are remanded in custody until their next court appearance.
 
Investigation led by police are continuing in this matter.
