Tajudeen Baruwa has been re-elected as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

Baruwa was inaugurated alongside other executive members during the 10th National Quadrennial Delegate Conference of the Union held on Thursday in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

In his inaugural speech, Baruwa said the union, under his leadership, is ready to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration to ensure the country’s economy becomes better.

He assured that the union would always ensure the safety of commuters and their goods, and its members would be of good behaviour across the country.

The NURTW Chairman asserted that the union through the transportation sector would add to the federal government’s efforts at achieving economic recovery.

He said: “NURTW members would be working closely with the president through the transportation sector to ensure the country’s economy becomes better and address Nigerians’ concerns, irrespective of the location they may be.

“The conference in session after critically assessing Tinubu’s administration, though less than three months in office, expressed satisfaction with the steps taken so far towards revamping the economy of the country for the overall benefit of the people.

“Due to this, we expressed our total support for his administration’s policies and programmes with the belief that if transparently implemented, it will definitely reduce the hardship encountered by the masses.”

The NURTW president said his leadership of the union would strengthen the cooperation with the police to ensure law and order are adhered to across parks and garages in the country.

He added that other stakeholders would also be parleyed to ensure the country’s transportation sector becomes better.

Baruwa also commended the Governor of Nasarawa, Abdullahi Sule, for providing a conducive atmosphere for the union to hold its conference.
