Photos From The Funeral Ceremony Of Newly-wedded Couple Killed By Herdsmen In Plateau State

The newly-wedded couple, Barnabas Danladi Rwang and his wife, Sandra, who were killed by herdsmen have been buried amidst tears in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
 
The teacher couple, aged 31 and 24, were shot dead on August 14, 2023, by the herdsmen who forced their way into BECO Comprehensive High School, Kwi in Riyom to graze their cows.
 
The funeral service which held on Wednesday, August 23, was greeted by a mammoth crowd.
 
The mourners included representatives of the Plateau State Governor,  Hon. Kachollom Gang (Commissioner of Higher Education) Transition Committee Chairman of Riyom LGA, Hon. Sati Shuwa, District Head of Riyom (Dagwom Rwei Riyom LGA) Da Samuel Jok and his council of chiefs.
 
Others are Sector 6 Commander of Operation Safe Haven, religious leaders, Member representing Riyom LGA at the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Danton, Da Samuel Jok (Dagwom Rwei Riyom LGA) Da Gyang Dudu (BECO President), BYM President, Representative of Peace House.
 
The atmosphere at the funeral service depicted one of the saddest moments of bereavement as the mourners couldn’t hold back tears.
 
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Timothy Dantong expressed his sadness at the killing of the young couple who got married on March 25, 2023.
 
The legislator urged the security agents to unravel the perpetrators of the dastard act.
 
“This is an agenda to grab our ancestral land which has succeeded in displacement of over fifty (50) Communities in Berom land, our people must go back to their ancestral land, this couple just got wedded March this year and were gruesomely killed in the school compound in broad day light, we need justice
” he stated.
 
The member condoled with the family, Kwi Community, Riyom Constituency, BECO, entire Berom land and Plateau State, while calling for calm as the security agents have swung into action in the investigation of the killings.
