Fake DSS officer Arrested For Job Scam In Jigawa

The suspect and his accomplice allegedly defrauded students of the Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse, under the pretence of helping them to secure DSS and NDLEA jobs.

A 27-year-old man, Kamilu Bappa, posing as an officer of the Department of State Services (DSS) to defraud unsuspecting victims has been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, said the suspect and his accomplice defrauded students of the Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse, under the pretence of helping them to secure DSS and NDLEA jobs.
 
“On 16/9/2023 at about 1100hrs, one Haruna Ibrahim ‘m’ and one other, all of Jigawa state Polytechnic Dutse, reported at Dutse police station that, one Kamilu Bappa ‘m’ of Garko LGA, Kano state, deceitfully introduced himself to them as personnel of Department of State Services (DSS) and collected the sum of three hundred and five thousand naira (₦305,000.00) from them with the pretence of getting them DSS and Nigeria Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) job respectively,” the statement read.
     
“On receipt of the report, detectives attached to Dutse Division swung into action and arrested the suspect in possession of a DSS uniform trousers. On interrogation, the suspects admitted to the commission of the offence”.

 The PPRO added that the suspect will be arraigned before the court of law to face the full weight of the law after a discreet investigation at state SCID Dutse.
