Dino Melaye, the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Kogi State governorship election has defended his decision not to vote during the election.

According to him, his decision not to vote during the polls is not the reason why he lost.

Recall that Melaye came third in the election, with Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) clinching the governorship seat.

There are claims that the former senator may have hampered his chances by refusing to vote during the Saturday poll.

Reacting on Monday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today

Dino said “People win elections from prison; whether I vote or not, it is immaterial.”

He added: “The issue of voting or not voting has no legal status. People win elections in prison. Legally, it has no relevance to the election. Whether I voted or not, it is immaterial.”
