Abducted Imo Monarch Regains Freedom

The spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Henry Okoye, said the monarch was released after a hot chase on the kidnappers in the forest by operatives of the Command’s Anti kidnapping unit.

Eze Samuel Ohiri, the traditional ruler in the Orodo Autonomous Community, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, who was abducted has regained freedom.

Confirming this to newsmen today January 18, the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Henry Okoye, said the monarch was released after a hot chase on the kidnappers in the forest by operatives of the Command’s Anti kidnapping unit.

It was earlier reported that a heavily armed four-member gang stormed the residence of the former chairman of the Imo Council of Traditional Rulers in a green Toyota Highlander on Saturday, January 6, 2024, and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

Nine suspects have been arrested in connection with the monarch’s abduction.
