One Killed, Others Missing As Kidnappers Storm Kwara Community

A man identified as Chief Toyin Adeyemi has been killed while others abducted as suspected kidnappers invaded Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to Daily Trust, the gunmen stormed Ijara/Isin road on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, and killed the victim who hailed from Pamo Isin community and kidnapped others.

Late Adeyemi was the School Supporting Officer (SSO) of Isin Local Government Education Authority.

It was gathered that the gunmen shot him in the chest and armpit, resulting in his death on the spot.

According to a message sent to the community Whatsapp forum, “residents and indigenes have been warned to avoid travelling between the Ijara/Isanlu Isin road. This is because some unspecified numbers of persons have been kidnapped while Mr. (Chief) Adeyemi was killed.”

The spokesman of the Kwara State Police command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the incident in Ilorin on Wednesday, May 17, however, said only one person is still missing.

‘One person was killed, one still missing according to the information available. Policemen were deployed to the scene yesterday. I will push out details as soon as it is available please,” Okasanmi said.
