Nigeria’s World Cup opponents, Argentina, Croatia and Iceland maintained their positions in March Fifa ranking published on Thursday.
 
The Super Eagles, who were also stagnant, are ranked 52nd in the world and seventh in Africa behind Tunisia, Senegal, Congo DR, Morocco, Egypt and Cameroon.
 
World Cup debutants Iceland are rated the 18th best football-playing nation across the globe with 1026 points, while Croatia retained their 15th spot after gathering 1053 points.
 
2014 Fifa World Cup runners-up, Argentina, despite their stationary status are the second best team in South America and no. four in the world.
 
As it stands, Gernot Rohr’s Eagles are the least ranked team in Group D ahead of the global football showpiece which kicks off in June.
 
They have a chance to improve their score when they take on Poland and Serbia in international friendlies billed for March 23 and 27 respectively.
 
Nigeria begin their sixth World Cup campaign against Croatia on June 16 at Report Kaliningrad Stadium, with Argentina trying Iceland for size earlier at Otkritie Arena, Moscow.
