Veteran Afrobeat singer, Alariwo of Africa has lamented about the attitude of new generation artists.

The broadcaster also said many of them are not passionate for the music but that what they are after is money.

Alariwo stated this while featuring in an Instagram live chat show tagged #Gatekeeperseries with Nigerian rapper Weird Mc and Singer Bunmi Sanya-Farayola.

“I like this concept of celebrating people that have been there before. We have paid our dues and we are no fools, so we need to be celebrated and not tolerated,” Alariwo said.

“I go to where I am celebrated, we need to be celebrated, we have paid our dues. We were doing it for the love, not the monetary gain, I remember back then how much were we collecting for a show? We were doing it for the love, we were doing it for the passion”.

He added: “I remember back then when a lot of people were saying who is Alariwo of Africa? Only three people stood by me, Weird Mc, Bunmi and Ricka T. So we should appreciate and give God the glory that we are still here, relevant and we are still everywhere.”

He also mentioned that new generation musicians do not respect elders.
