Premier League’s best player, Mohamed Salah could be banned for Liverpool’s final two remaining league matches if he is charged with violent conduct by the Englich Football Association.

 

According to Metro UK, the Egypt international appeared to throw a punch at defender Bruno Martins Indi in the first half of Liverpool’s goalless draw against Stoke City at Anfield on Saturday.

 

Referee Andre Marriner took no action during the game, and the incident could now be referred to the FA’s three-man disciplinary panel for review.

 

The Video footage will be viewed independently by three former Premier League officials to determine whether Salah should have been sent off.

And for retrospective action to be taken, the decision from the panel must be unanimous.

 

If he is found guilty, Salah would have to answer a charge of violent conduct and providing an appeal is unsuccessful, he would be banned for three domestic games.

 

That would mean the 25-year-old would miss Liverpool’s remaining two Premier League fixtures against Chelsea and Brighton.

 

Liverpool are still in the driving seat to secure a place in the top four, although Chelsea could make it a nervy finale if they beat Jurgen Klopp’s side at Stamford Bridge next Sunday.

 

Salah, meanwhile, still leads the race for the Golden Boot with 31 goals in the Premier League, five ahead of Tottenham striker, Harry Kane.

 

Former Premier League referee Mark Halsey believes Salah will escape action from the FA.

 

‘Law 12 striking or attempting to strike an opponent is an act of violent conduct and punishable by a red card,’ said Halsey.

 

 

West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi escaped action from the FA last week after appearing to punch Danny Ings in the stomach whilst the Liverpool striker was on the ground.
