Just In: Nigerian Medical doctors Call Off Nationwide Strike

After many months, Nigerian medical doctors have lastly called off its nationwide strike.

The strike was called off by the management of the Nigerian Association of Resident Medical doctors (NARD). The medical doctors at the moment are set to resume on Wednesday, based on Vanguard.

Recall that in August, the physician’s union launched into strike following a disagreement with the federal authorities over the non-availability of medical tools at public tertiary hospitals.

In a communique signed by the Nigerian Medical Affiliation, Secretary-General Ekpe Philips Uche, after the assembly held amongst delegates of NMA and NARD on Sunday in Abuja, the NMA suggested NARD to cease the ongoing industrial motion.

On the assembly, NMA mandated the Nationwide Officers Committee, NOC, to make sure the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed with the federal authorities on August 21.

The association requested NOC to report back to the Nationwide Govt Council of NMA periodically on the progress being made on implementing the memorandum of understanding.

NMA additionally mandated the NOC to proceed to interface with the chairmen of the state branches, together with the FCT, on the progress being made.

Based on Godiya Ishaya, NARD president, the affiliation has formally known as off the strike.
