Niko Kovac’s squad is afflicted by similar issues – as the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels and Joshua Kimmich are still on holiday after their World Cup exploits. Sven Ulreich starts in goal with Ryan Johansson, Javi Martinez, Josip Stanisic and Juan Bernat making up the defence. A midfield five sees Serge Gnabry and Franck Ribery on the flanks, with an inexperienced trio of Marcel Zylla, Paul Will and Meritan Shabani in midfield. The lone striker today is Sandro Wagner.

Juventus are without a number of World Cup players, including Mario Mandzukic, Juan Cuadrado, and Cristiano Ronaldo. A dearth of strikers upfront has forced Max Allegri to field a slightly unorthodox attacking trio of Joao Cancelo, Andrea Favilli and Federico Bernardeschi. The rest of the squad is full of experience and features two new signings. Mattia Perrin starts for Juventus for the first time, protected by a back four of Mattia De Sciglio, Daniele Rugani, Giorgio Chiellini and Alex Sandro. The midfield three consists of Claudio Marchisio who has been the subject of numerous injury problems, Miralem Pjanic and the recently purchased Emre Can.
