Africa Unite cancelled: Burna Boy pulls out of anti-xenophobia concert

Burna Boy will no longer be performing in South Africa, according to fans who have allegedly received notices from ticket service providers, just days before the Africa Unite concert series was expected to hit the country.

The Africans Unite concert is an anti-xenophobia event sponspored by Channel O and Play Africa Network. The concert was toted as an active stance against the recent xenophobic violence that plagued most parts of South Africa, in September.

Burna Boy, a Nigerian star, Jidenna and Kwesta were tipped to headline the event, with Minnie Dlamini recruited as the host.

The event was sold as a two-day affair, taking place in two provinces. On Saturday, 23 November, it was scheduled to be in Cape Town, at The Lawns, Camps Bay, and the next day in Tshwane, at the Sun Arena.
